Tony To is a Data Domain Manager for the AI & Robotics Institute at EIT, specialising in the intersection of data, AI, and economic research. With a strong foundation in economics and data science, he focuses on building robust data infrastructure and leveraging data-driven insights to inform decision-making.
Prior to joining EIT, Tony was a Senior Economist at Cambridge Econometrics, where he worked on high-impact projects for international organisations, including the European Commission, the Greater London Authority, and the UK Department for Science, Innovation and Technology. His expertise in micro-level datasets, economic modelling, and machine learning enables him to develop innovative analytical approaches to complex economic challenges.
Tony holds a doctorate in Economics from the University of Cambridge, where his research explored economic decision-making in networks, covering topics such as information dissemination, supply chain fragility, and social trust. His multidisciplinary work bridges economics, network theory, and sociology.
Outside of work, Tony enjoys swimming and learning Spanish. He has also been a game master in tabletop roleplaying games for six years, channelling his creativity through collaborative storytelling.
