Max Cummins

Max is a Senior Bioinformatician at the Pathogen Program at EIT, where he leverages his expertise in microbial genomics and the building of robust and automated analytical workflows.

His earned his doctorate at the University of Technology, Sydney, sequencing and analysing hundreds of genomes of avian pathogenic E. coli; a bacterium that infects both poultry and humans.Following the completion of his studies, Max continued his work within the realm of antimicrobial resistance and infectious disease genomics through twoPostdoctoral positions with national leaders in bioinformatics and microbial genomic surveillance, including CSIRO and The University of Melbourne’s AusPathogens Programme.

Max is passionate about technological innovation, artificial intelligence, automation, coding and applied science.Outside of work he enjoys running, weightlifting, yoga and going to live music events.
